The owl image was taken (and feather collected) on the edge of the Arctic Ocean in the far north of Alaska while accompanying a scientist and owl expert on his annual monitoring of snowy owls. The feather, collected from the nest of this very owl has been painstakingly photographed through a series of 7 shots each with an incremental shifted in focus, then stitched together to create a hyper-real depiction of the feather at this exponential size. The feeling upon viewing the piece is both infinite and flat aimed to disorient the viewer and reinforce a false sense of our ability to comprehend the scales of the natural world.
